Movin' Out

Well, after weeks of packing and planning, moving weekend was a success. After nine years in our house, it took a lot of time to decide what went to the new house, what was going to be sold or donated or just plain thrown away. Luckily, we had lots of hard-working family and friends to help us out, and with rental of a very large moving van (or semi) we got most of the moving done in one day! I was extremely worried about the whole moving process this time around. Last time around, we were still newly married with no kids, moving our relatively small amount of belongings from a one-bedroom apartment to our first house, which was only a few blocks away. We had another couple help us make a few trips with a truck, and spread it out over several days. This time, nearly a decade later, we have a very active 1 year old and a household full of stuff, and only a short window of time to move everything over. With the poor timing of our Monday after Easter closing, we managed to get keys to our new house a few days early and had to move Easter weekend and camp out at our old, practically empty house for a few days until we were legally owners of our new crib. Luke enjoyed standing at the window on his little stool, watching the van being loaded up, and really loved having an empty house for a few days!
Everything went well, I have to say. After a few years of looking, this new house suits us perfectly, and gives our family the room we need. Thank you so much again to everyone that was able to come to help!!!! Now.... the unpacking begins!
